Scott E. Schaffer

Scott E. Schaffer has over thirty years of labor and employee relations experience. Prior to forming Schaffer Law in 2005, Scott held senior level human resource positions with International Paper Company, Schlumberger Ltd, and The Stanley Works, where he headed the company’s labor and employee relations function. He was also an Associate at the law firm of Murtha Cullina LLP, and represented clients in a variety of workplace matters.
Scott holds a BA, cum laude, in Economics from St. Lawrence University, as well as a MSBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Massachusetts, Isenberg School of Management. He received his JD, with high honors, from the University of Connecticut, School of Law, where he was Notes and Comments Editor of the Connecticut Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in Connecticut and Florida.

Scott serves on the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the  Connecticut Bar Association.  In addition, he is a member of the Florida Bar Association , the  Labor and Employment Relations Association , and the Animal Law Section of the CBA.

He writes on a wide range of employment issues and his articles have been published in the Connecticut Law Review, CBA Labor and Employment Law Quarterly, HR Communicator, and Chamber News. Based on his extensive experience writing about human resource topics, Scott was selected by Lexis Nexis to author sections of its compliance product, XpertHR, which provides technical guidance to HR practitioners throughout the United States.
